Results from a project study which was taken to help alcoholics combat there addiction issue have come back with some interesting results.
Does alcohol medication really work or is it a big money government spinner?
One of the drugs used was “Ondansetron”, which offers alcoholics a short term solution. The way ondansetron works is that it blocks the neurotransmitter serotonin to your brain.
Ondansetron is prescribed to patients who suffer from nausea and vomiting. Researchers carried out there study and recruited a total of over two hundred volunteers who where seeking alcohol medication treatment.
The participants where a mixture of men and women all shapes and sizes and all between the age of 25 to 60 years old. This experiment lasted for just over 10 weeks and each participant received a daily dosage of ondansertron. In this study all of the volunteers where monitored very closely but with a very high percentage of the people dropping out and not finishing the trial. You have to ask yourself was this drug helping, and why did so many drop out?
My answer would be very simple, “It wasn’t working”. Now if you ask me this was a money spinner which was in the making from the government, but I’ll leave that up to you to decide!
So is there an effected medication treatment method which can control alcoholism?
Well at the moment nothing has been developed. Now if you’re an alcoholic looking for some form of treatment be aware of all you options which are available and make sure you do your research first before you pick one. What you need to remember is this won’t happen over night, so you need to set your goals and stick to your plan. I have seen people who where alcoholics and are now sober and alcohol free and there lifestyles have changed tremendously.
I can recommend a few other alternative methods like AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), but they also have a high percentage of people dropping out and also hitting the bottle again. The other one I can recommend is “Lee Milteer’s Habit Busting” I have read some great reviews on, and you only need to look at Lee’s coaching skills and who she has worked with to understand why she’s one of the best at this.
