A woman has recently been taking Sporonox liquid for candida medication treatment. Initially, she started on a low dose (50mg/day instead of 100) because she has had an allergic reaction to Diflucan and they were worried about cross-reactivity. She has worked her way up to 100 now, but is experiencing major headaches. She called Ortho Biotech and talked to a pharmacist there with really no resolve. In her opinion, it was ridiculous all they wanted to do was get her personal information. Their answer was ask your doctor (who she is sure has 100 times less experience with the drug than the actual drug company).
Anyway, she was wondering two things. First, she wants to know if anyone else had this type of reaction and if it could be die-off. The headaches are very bad and not like what she is used to. Second, she wonders if she takes 50mg instead of 100 over a longer period it will still work or she is wasting her time.
She is asking these questions just in case there are others who were in a similar situation and had success anyway. She knows headaches are a side effect of this medication, but was concerned that the drug company couldn’t tell her if she should stop the medication or not. If they don’t know, then she doesn’t know who is supposed to.
I took Sporonox for 10 days and it helped immensely, but it also screwed up my liver. So, I urge you to be careful in using this. I am not sure about the dose I took, but this drug is toxic and I wouldn’t stay on it for long unless you are very ill.
