Today you find lots of talk about Blogging and how powerful it can be for achieving network marketing success. Is that a reality? Or, can you still build a successful network marketing organization without becoming a blogger?
Over the last 10 years, network marketing has evolved into an entirely new industry. With the advent of today’s technology, network marketing has dramatically changed forever. What was once a simple friends and family marketing system, now allows many new options for effective global marketing. Email, websites, telephone and video conferencing, social media, and other tools, have all enhanced the network marketing industry. However, that doesn’t mean that people are using these tools effectively. In fact, the added options available today seem to be adding to the marketing confusion.

“Why Blog? I already have a website!”
I talk to lots of network marketers about online marketing. The number 1 question I hear is, “Why would I need to blog? I already have a website that explains my business perfectly?” And I must admit, that is true, everybody has a website that tells the story of their particular business better than most people can tell it themselves. That is not the problem. The problem is, everybody else in your company has the same, or similar site, as you. Why is that a problem?
Well, think about it, let’s be conservative here and say that your company only has 10,000 representatives, and as you know, that’s a very conservative figure. So, 10,000 others are competing for your same leads and prospects. When a prospect visits these sites, the same company site everybody is marketing, how does he or she decide who they will sign up with? To answer that, think back to when you were faced with the same decision, who did you go with?
Most people, who spend even a little bit of time researching any particular company, will sign up with the person they see as most successful in that company. Which proves one key thing, people don’t join companies, they join people. People join people that they believe can help them move forward. The person who they believe will lead them to success.
But, let’s go back to our example of the 10,000 sites. Prospect (A) visits 5 or 6 replicated sites, who will he go with? He will go with the member that seems the most successful. However, these replicated sites all look the same, how does he distinguish who is more successful? In a lot of cases, it will be the member who has their own personal blog site.
Setting yourself apart with blog sites
Having a personal blog has several benefits that are imperative to network marketing success. First of all, blogging helps to introduce you to the world. And, if done right, you will be putting yourself in front of your specific target market. In short, blogging helps to set you apart from all the others in your same company that are all marketing the same replicated company site.
In addition to setting you apart from everybody else, blogging also helps to position you as a leader, and/or expert, in your field. As mentioned before, people look to join other people that they see as someone who can lead them to success. That is where you will find the real power in blogging.
You should be marketing yourself first
Your online marketing strategy should place you as it’s most marketable asset. Understand that in today’s market, companies come and go. Therefore, more than ever, your online marketing should be focused on marketing you, first and foremost, then your company. Most people spend all their time promoting their company and never themselves. Then, their company goes down, for whatever reason, and the person is again starting at point zero. Not a good plan at all.
Another huge mistake people make is in buying their own domain name, especially their own name, and then pointing the name to a company replicated site. They are giving up their power and marketability to the company, instead of marketing themselves as leaders and experts. Once again, people join people, not companies.
What Blog system should I use?
There are plenty options for blogging platforms. Some free, and some paid. However, WordPress offers a great blogging platform that is Google friendly, as well as being very friendly to non-techie guys like me.
In addition, WordPress blog sites also have tons of plug-in, which are basically programs that can be installed into the blog site at the press of a button. This makes it extremely easy to customize, and more importantly, to optimize your site for search engine ranking.
Also, WordPress sites, and I’m talking the paid versions here, allow you to easily monetize the site. So, not only will you be developing the site to market yourself, and your primary company, you can also monetize it to create additional streams of income.
In conclusion, I believe if you are looking to become a top earner in this industry, the easy way to get there quickly is to see what the top earners are doing. All top earners are blogging. All top earners are positioning themselves as leaders and experts, and then they market their business. And, top earners are monetizing their sites so that they can still make money from their traffic, even from people that don’t join them. That’s smart marketing.
