Honest Marketing Techniques are time proven techniques you can use to generate online income. In this series of articles you will find the information to help decide which methods are right for you. This information may also help you sort the good advertisements from the bad if you decide to purchase someone’s program or membership. There’s no real magic to becoming an online marketer, regardless of the product you want to sell or promote. Today we look at changing how you think about internet marketing. Think not of Online Marketing, Internet Marketing or Affiliate Marketing. Think instead of the power of Information.

As you likely already know, Internet Marketing encompasses an extremely wide range of activities and products. You can sell or promote just about anything using the internet. Online Marketing allows you to sell both your own products, directly or through affiliates selling your product for you. If you don’t have your own products, you can still participate through being an affiliate for someone else. Affiliate Marketing works as well for physical products as it does for downloadable products, it just has different commission structures. Depending on the niche, physical products may actually be a much easier sell than downloadable products, especially in the more competitive niches.

It’s all Information Marketing

The actual process of selling your own product or someone else’s is pretty much the same whether you are working with physical products or downloadable ones. I want you to think of the process as “Information Marketing”, not Internet Marketing, Online Marketing or Affiliate Marketing.

Why?

Your job, the process you have to adhere to, is one of providing information about the product that creates or increases interest in the product. You aren’t so much marketing the actual product, but the information that creates the buzz that causes the prospect to turn into a customer. That, is the essence of any sales program, process or solution.
Simply put, the information you present makes the difference between a ho-hum reception of information, or creating an excitement that turns a mild interest into a must-have for the prospect.

Information?

Yes, information. Think for a moment. What creates interest in a particular brand of golf clubs? Information. Properly developed and presented, the information about the benefits of a new brand of clubs can drive the neophyte to believe his game will improve if he has this revolutionary new club design in his golf bag. In this case, the information is what drives the interest, and as a result, drives the sale.

Lets move to downloadable products: Information is not only the means to create or improve interest, but it is the very product as well. Usually two dramatically different kinds of information, but information none-the-less. Ebooks, reports, audio programs, and videos are all different forms of presenting information. In fact, each of these can be used to present the same information, at increasing price levels. Just think about selling essentially the same information in each of the three primary forms (written, oral, and visual). One product, three forms, three streams of income. Compound that with instant download plus physical DVD or CDs containing the same forms, and you have the opportunity to sell to yet another segment of the population that otherwise might not have been as interested. And how do we generate that interest? Information, in carefully crafted blog posts, articles and sales copy.

Now that you’ve read this article, you can see why you too, should abandon the use of the phrases Internet Marketing, Online Marketing, and Affiliate Marketing, and instead, think in terms of Information Marketing.

It’s about time we all return to using Honest Marketing Techniques and telling it like it is instead of creatiing over-hyped advertising copy about programs that are insufficiently developed or tested.
