Since the first touch screen phone was first released, Symbian S60 has been part of our lives even though we don’t want the hassle of mastering how to use a fresh operating system. Then here comes Symbian^3, the latest and the best edition of Symbian. Among the arrays of phones using Symbian^3 technology, the extraordinary N8 mobile camera, the elegant C7, and now here comes Nokia C6-01.
Having the lowest specifications among those two, it still claims some great performance including the 8 megapixel camera present on the Nokia C7 with duo LED flash, and with a similar connectivity choices despite of being the most economical of the line with a small display screen and a wider form-factor. It was also the first mobile evaluated to use Nokia’s modern CBD (Clear Black Display) innovation.
The screen of the Nokia C6-01 is its best plus. Both equipped with Nokia’s CBD advancement and being distinct than that of any other Symbian^3 mobile phone, it appears undoubtedly good, measuring up to 3.2 inches, it produces Symbian^3 a task to use comfortably. The tones on the Nokia C6-01 are superbly vivid and have good dazzling brightness stages, thanks to the AMOLED innovation used. Blacks are profound, with the standby Symbian^3 clock presenting just how deep (with a fine line-art clock illuminated in white atop the jet black screen), and aspect is overall good. At a resolution of 360×640 pixels, 3.2 inches do make for good quality, however, for vast functionality, we would choose to spare some sharpness and make the screen occupy more of the hoop, as is the case on the Nokia C7 for instance.
Beneath the screen are three physical buttons, call, end and menu. They feel a bit loose to press, but even so do the job. At the bottom of the Nokia C6-01 is a microUSB port, 3.5mm headphone jack and a 2mm proprietary Nokia charging port. To the top left side are two volume controls, a hold slider in the middle and a single-stage camera control beneath. With no keys on the left hand side, moving to the back, you’ll find the 8MP fixed-focus camera, twin LED flash and loudspeaker. Slide off the metal battery cover, which appears a bit hard, to uncover the battery with a SIM card slot below. To the right hand side of the battery is the microSD card slot, with a 2GB card in the box. Altogether, it is still a captivated C6-01’s design.
