When first starting your journey as an online marketer, it’s helpful to get training from established experts. This training can be appropriately identified as internet marketing for newbies and what it should provide for you is the information necessary in creating prosperous campaigns. In addition, it should give you the skills and knowledge required to be a successful internet marketer. That’s what this lesson is about here.
In this “internet marketing for newbies” lesson, let’s start with the very basics…your marketing campaign. What this is referring to is the series of actions you’ll take to promote a product to make money because let’s face it. If you don’t have an effective campaign, you won’t be cashing any checks from buyers anytime soon and correct me if I’m wrong, but making money is part of the goal, right?
So in addressing the basics, before you even get started there are five concepts of the campaign you’ll want to address. They are:
Who to promote to – Not every product will fit the needs of every consumer. In addition, not every consumer is going to be interested in purchasing the product you have to offer. One of the biggest, most important idea an internet marketing newbie must grasp in their training is understanding who their consumer is. What is their need? What information, “fix”, or “cure” do they need? In other words, if you have a consumer who wants to stop smoking, you wouldn’t give him an e-book that teaches about the dangers of smoking and its harmful effects. No. He’s past that point. What he wants is to find out how to stop smoking. That being the case, give him a product or e-book that provides techniques that will help him quit. Does that make sense?
What to promote – The next training topic relates to what you want to promote. In keeping with the same example as above, think about what your consumer wants. If you’re not sure, look at forums that discuss the issue. If someone has just made the decision to stop smoking, an e-book with some practical advice about how to quit is probably all you need. However, if the group of consumers you’re targeting are those who have tried to quit for years and constantly struggle with the issue, some type of medical resource may be their best solution. That being said, you’ll have to decide if you are the best person to market that solution. It may be better to leave promotion to that niche group to medical professionals.
(Marketing physical products may be easier to begin with since in many cases it’s easier to determine what a consumer wants.)
Why to promote – The concept is probably one of internet marketing training concepts for a newbie to understand. Quite simply, you promote because none of your consumers will know you exist unless you tell them. They will know your competitor exists because he has made himself know through his marketing techniques. And while he’s out becoming “the king of pop,” you’ll be continuing down the “road of pauper.” That’s not the path you want to be on.
Where to promote – Now where do newbies promote?…EVERYWHERE! The same places gurus and all the internet marketing experts do. Build a website, write articles and submit them to article directories, become members of online social groups, get involved in forums, post online and offline classified ads, etc. Use free or paid tactics based on what you can afford. The type really isn’t as important as the fact that you put your product out there where consumers see it.
How to promote – The following tactic in this “internet marketing for newbies” training is probably one of the easiest, quickest ways you can promote your product and it’s actually much easier than it sounds. First, build a webpage that promotes your product using a free resource such as Blogger.com. Then write 10 to 20 articles about your product and the problem it solves and submit them to article directories. From there build backlinks via social bookmarking, classified ads, blog commenting, and submitting the URL address of your site to website directories.
