Okay, first off, I am not making fortunes online as an affiliate or internet marketer, In fact, I class myself very much as a student of internet and affiliate marketing.
I am not a beginner by any means as I am now at a stage where I can create my own blogs, create my own websites, squeeze pages, install scripts, create my own web graphics with Photoshop and much more, In fact I have even launched my own information product on ClickBank in the past few months.
To be honest, reading that back to myself makes me sound a bit like an internet marketer, huh? So why am I not, yet?
Read on to find out why…
You see,I am now at a stage where I am learning how to market online properly. I’ve learned the basic necessary skills and in some cases advanced skills but, at the end of the day, I am learning how to become a marketer online.
As of right this minute, I’ve made very little money.
So how does that qualify me to write this article?
Well, about 6 months ago, I was very frustrated after spending my first 18 months online shelling out most of my cash on products and opportunities that promised quick riches so…
I did something I had never done before; 6 months ago I invested in a coaching program run by a highly successful internet and affiliate marketer. I did this out of sheer frustration, I was sick and tired of spending my cash on rubbish products and opportunities that didn’t make me any money.
Before you read any further and if you take one thing away from reading this article remember this one thing – “Products Don’t Make You Rich”!
My first coaching investment was actually to be the foundation of my very first information product creation which is actually at this very moment live on ClickBank. (Sorry, I am unable to give the link within this article but I’ve not written this article to sell anything so it doesn’t matter.)
You see, I learned through that coaching program which ran for 12 weeks how to build a blog, create my very own information product and get it on ClickBank. The one thing missing from that coaching was the emphasis on marketing my new product…
The result was, a failed product launch because I didn’t market it properly. I didn’t know how to market it properly. Yes I was taught some basic marketing skills within the 12 week coaching program but not to the extent as i would have liked or needed.
This brings me to the real meat of this article…
Which is about marketing properly online or better still, getting started properly in the first place?
In late september 2010 I was at a stage where:
* I had a live ClickBank product
* I had very little marketing skills
* I had next to no mailing list
* I was making very little money
* I was frustrated and running out of ideas
* I had ended my 12 week coaching program
So what was next?
I had skills, but not marketing skills, I needed to learn badly…
You have undoubtedly heard the saying, “The lord works in mysterious ways” right?
Well, I couldn’t believe my luck as I was presented with an opportunity to join a mentoring program by the most amazing marketer on the planet or at least one of them anyway in late October 2010… I snapped up the chance as it was and still is within my budget.
This mentoring program is based and focussed around marketing online properly and is teaching me things I never knew… Things I should have been doing way before I created my product for ClickBank. But, you live and learn.
Here are just a few internet marketing tips I have picked up so far that you should consider before promoting anything online as an affiliate or internet marketer:
* Build your mailing list right from the beginning, forget about making money at first.
* Get a professional autoresponder in place, It’s the most important investment you’ll ever make as an internet marketer.
* Give away great free information and collect opt-ins for your mailing list.
* Drive traffic to more free content and giveaway a helpful eBook or report created by yourself.
* Build and maintain relationships with your list, create a WordPress blog, share great free info.
* Make money from your list but only when you have built a relationship with them and have gained their trust.
If you follow the above strategies you will be doing something that 95% of marketers don’t do but should. Make yourself into a trustworthy marketer, a respected marketer, share what you learn and always practice what you preach.
