For years I like many others was reluctant to get involved in network marketing and thought it a waste of time. I had friends, acquaintances and strangers chasing me to see their latest and greatest products and services. My idea back then, which I imagine most people outside of network marketing believe, is that it was just a way to make a few hundred dollars and not worth the effort. My attitude was based on the lack of financial success attained by those I observed in the industry at that point of time.
I once read that your income is an average of your five closest friends, and I have realized the truth in this statement over the years. My enlightened self, which has developed from looking at the concept of network marketing from an educated standpoint (not education based on my various degrees, but based on researching the field and speaking to several persons from varying companies and at various levels of success in those respective companies) now realizes how beneficial a network marketing business can be. Most of us already realize that the whole concept of a job and working for someone is not for us. The daily, weekly or monthly stipend they pay us is insulting, yet we sit back, go to work every day, complain about our boss, co-workers and clients and do our dreaded task, hoping to win the lottery or waiting for retirement.
If you think people don’t achieve financial freedom in MLM marketing think again, as it is responsible for more millionaires than most other fields. If you are not willing to work then it won’t work for you, so you have to wipe that lottery mentality from your thinking. People often ask if it’s a get rich quick scheme, to which my answer is yes and no. No it’s not a scheme, but yes it’s an opportunity to get rich quickly… a whole lot quicker than you’re current job. Honestly, how is the current get-rich-slow program working for you?
Two things which I believe stop people from network marketing success are:
• Failure to shift their mindset: The greatest shift people have to make to succeed in the network marketing arena is the shift from an employee to employer mentality. Nothing is going to drop in your lap, you have to do the work, especially in the initial stages, but if you do that work upfront and create a sound foundation, it will serve you for the rest of your life. The residual income that you can receive on a monthly basis, that’s your true retirement savings plan. Find the right company, join the right team and create the future you desire.
• Lack of Training: When you first started driving you had to get lessons, you start a new job you get training, so why would starting a new opportunity in network marketing be any different. You need to get network marketing training to succeed. Ask those you know who have been involved in network marketing what training they’ve had, or how much of what they learned they applied and you’ll quickly find out what their secret to failure was and yours to success. While the specific company training is good, there are lots of invaluable resources to be gained from third-party sources. Utilize these properly, align yourself with the right team, get focused and create your goals, and then you’ll be miles ahead of your peers on the path to success.
Network marketing isn’t for everybody. If you, like me, enjoy having the freedom to work from home, having no boss, creating residual income and helping others along the way, then network marketing is definitely a choice to consider. A lot of people talk and dream about success, if you take the right actions, network marketing is the vehicle that could turn those dreams into reality.
